| A Legacy of Excellence |
For 30 years, Project Independence and Vantage Foundation
have been serving people with disabilities and their families
in Orange County. Both agencies were grass roots efforts to
change the world! Our focus has always been to work for basic
civil rights for individuals so that they could live, work and
recreate with their non- disabled peers. The simple promise
of the Lanterman Act, legislation passed over 40 years ago,
paved the way. Now our agencies are "Together for Good"
and we plan to celebrate. 2008 will be a year of not only special
events, but opportunities to plan for our next 30 years. Our
goal is the same as always: To promote civil rights for people
with developmental disabilities and to provide services which
expand independence and choice.
Project
Independence Open House
We are having our Open House for our first “Home of Our Own”
on Friday, September 26th, 2008 and we’d love it if you could
come and have a hot dog, tour and visit for awhile. Since Vantage
and Project Independence merged last July, we began to look
for a place we could buy. As it turns out we found the perfect
place across the sidewalk. Since our goal was to stay in Costa
Mesa and reduce our monthly expenses, a purchase was a long
shot. But here we are and now we’d like to celebrate with our
friends. |

Project
Independence’s mission is to promote civil rights for people
with developmental disabilities
through services which expand independence and choice. Project
Independence provides supported employment
and independent living services for people with developmental
disabilities in Orange County, California as well as
disability benefits planning, and an opportunity for disability
travel and recreation through its Access to
Adventures Program. Project Independence also has services
available to businesses interested in hiring employees with
developmental disabilities and has a special program promoting
healthy living with a disability.
