Independence
Wasn’t Always an Option
We believe that independence is essential for adults with developmental
disabilities to lead full, productive, happy lives. It wasn’t that
long ago that mental institutions were used to house people who were
different. Today, we can still see obstacles to independence including
budget cuts in California and nationwide that affect the level of
services provided to people with developmental disabilities. |
| |
| With
a strong network of support, we can continue to advocate for independence
and the rights of people with developmental disabilities. We can also
continue to provide direct services to the hundreds of people in Orange
County that participate in our job
placement,
independent living, adult
development and behavior
programs. |

| You
can help us spread the word through our Share Independence
Campaign, sharing both your stories of how Project Independence
has helped you and your family, and sharing our story with your friends
and family. The more people we can reach with our message, the more
independence we can share! |
