Philosophy
Project Independence Community Based Day Programs were designed to provide quality and meaningful support for community integration and employment for people with the most significant developmental disabilities. We believe in a strong commitment to individuals with disabilities and the need for a comprehensive support network between the policy makers, service providers, advocates, and consumers and their families. We believe in integration into the natural communities for productivity, economic advancement and social development. All support is offered in respectful and non segregated environments. Place and Train is our philosophical base. Recognizing we all learn best in the environment we need the skill, we focus on supports based on individual need. We ask "What does this person need to be successful in this environment" and then provide that support. Project Independence believes in full inclusion.

Before March 2003, Regional Center consumer Rosa Rodriquez spent most of her days watching television in the Garden Grove apartment she shares with her mother. "It was so boring in the house–TV, TV, TV; Being home all day, I would get depressed." Click on Rosa's Story for full story.
