Program Overview
Core Programs

Independent Living- over 250 people with developmental disabilities live on their own in Orange County, with support from our trained staff


Positive Behavior Supports- 140 people with challenging behaviors now are able to work, socialize, and take part in their communities on a daily basis with support including 1:1

Supported Employment- 200 individuals with disabilities work 20-40 hours/wk. with job coach support, paying taxes as members of the employers team.

WIPA- Work Incentive Planning and Assistance, a program by the Social Security Administration to help people with disabilities get back to work


Access2Adventure- A recreation program that assists, plans and supports people in travel and social activities including international destinations



Day Programs- Innovative day programs for 180 people with disabilities that focus on work, volunteer opportunities and community integration. Includes the Harmony Program, specifically for seniors with developmental disabilities

Project Independence’s mission is to promote civil rights for people with developmental disabilities
through services which expand independence and choice. Project Independence provides supported employment
and independent living services for people with developmental disabilities in Orange County, California as well as
disability benefits planning, and an opportunity for disability travel and recreation through its Access to
Adventures Program. Project Independence also has services available to businesses interested in hiring employees with developmental disabilities and has a special program promoting healthy living with a disability.
