Volunteer Level II: Event Volunteers

Description of Position
This is a volunteer option for individuals, and a limited number of groups. Responsibilities may include transportation of clients, setting up for an event, cleaning up after an event, and any other jobs that a particular event requires.

 
Requirements

For individuals/groups over 18 years old

You will be required to meet with the Access to Adventure Coordinator
No one in your group is allowed to drive or be alone with clients unless they get CPR/First Aid certified, undergo a background check, supply current CA drivers license, proof of liability insurance, and a 3 year DMV report.
For individuals/groups under 18 years old
You must have an adult responsible for your group at any planned meeting or event.
You may not drive or be alone with clients.

Project Independence’s mission is to promote civil rights for people with developmental disabilities
through services which expand independence and choice. Project Independence provides supported employment
and independent living services for people with developmental disabilities in Orange County, California as well as
disability benefits planning, and an opportunity for disability travel and recreation through its Access to
Adventures Program. Project Independence also has services available to businesses interested in hiring employees with developmental disabilities and has a special program promoting healthy living with a disability.
